#MCM: Meet Glenn Barnes

“What???!, how can a guy sing so well and hit those high notes” were my thoughts the first time I heard Glenn sing.

Glenn Barnes has an amazing vocal dexterity and he sings with so much passion and energy. He truly has a heart for God and when he repeats a particular line of a song, the way the lyrics start to make sense, as in SINK IN, is TOTALLY beyond human reasoning. In addition to the above, Glenn is the Man/Minister crush because of his humble carriage and very infectious smile (although the pictures below are not doing enough justice to the sentence above).

So meet the #MC for today!

Tell us a little about Glenn Barnes?

Glenn: Glenn is a cool, calm and collected individual who loves God, family and music.

Is Glenn an English or Ghanaian name? What’s the meaning?

Glenn: Glenn is an Irish name which means valley. Named after my dad.

How did this musical journey begin for you?

Glenn: It began right from nursery singing nursery rhymes to singing at school functions during high school days. I always played a role in school choirs singing sometimes soprano and alto (Boys secondary school).

How many instruments do you play; list them (the voice also counts ?)

Glenn: Keyboard, acoustic guitar, drums and primarily vocal.

What keeps me grounded is Gods word and plan for my life. I’ve seen God handiwork at every step of my journey. There has been some tragic moments in my life that if it wasn’t for God, I would be lost.

How do you prepare for your worship/ song ministration sessions?

Glenn: Practice practice practice. I listen a lot to a wide range of Christian music and always looking to update my library. I spend some time to prayerfully consider my worship or song ministration repertoire and it’s content and the audience I’m leading or ministering to.

What keeps you grounded in Christ regardless of what comes your way (Why are you so convinced of His Lordship- practical experience)?

Glenn: What keeps me grounded is God’s word and plan for my life. I’ve seen God’s handiwork at every step of my journey. There have been some tragic moments in my life that if it wasn’t for God, I would be lost.

How did you meet your wife/ confirmed she was the one ?

Glenn: Met her in church. I just knew she was the one.

What’s your anchor Bible verse?

Glenn: Several but here it goes; “Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in.” Gal 6:9 and Isaiah 41:10 – “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Advice to gospel ministers out there?

Glenn: They should be totally and wholly submitted to God and His call. Continual prayer and study of Gods word. Expand your musical boundaries and borders, honor God always.

P.s: Ever since the first day I heard him, I always looked forward to concerts or programs he would minister. Oh and He will be ministering in Edmonton Friday 16th June, 2017. Here’s the poster:
